Project Description:
This project supports initiatives under the CDC's Public Health Infrastructure Center that strengthens public health systems across state, local, tribal, and territorial jurisdictions. Work focuses on enhancing workforce capacity, improving data and technology infrastructure, and providing technical assistance to public health partners. The project also involves coordinating resources, supporting grant-funded activities, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and advancing CDC’s efforts to modernize and sustain core public health capabilities nationwide.
Job Summary:
This role ensures compliance with federal and organizational regulations, monitors performance and financial reporting, and provides technical assistance to grant recipients. Works collaboratively with the government, program teams, external partners, and grantees to ensure accurate documentation, timely submissions and effective stewardship of grant funds.
Responsibilities:
- Support three funding vehicles managed by the CDC branch
- Support and track the continuation and supplemental awards for each funding vehicle
- Participate in process improvement efforts by automating time-consuming tasks and creating job-aids/resources to cross-train staff
- Assist with knowledge management activities; this includes creating a centralized location for all branch resources, job aids and documents for easy access
- Support the legacy grant management system retirement and archival efforts by providing technical support to users during their final reporting in this system and assisting users and program staff
- Read assigned recipients' progress reports and write one-page descriptions of recipient activities to be used for data calls and other communications
- Enter new grant/CoAg award announcements into the internal portal
- Participating in weekly team meetings
- Support reporting requirements associated with CDC grant applications
- Review grant application activities and budgets to ensure they are compliant with funding requirements
- Make recommendations for grant lifecycle process improvements
- Develop performance improvement tools and make recommendation to achieve grant funding efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide technical support to CDC grantees
- Assist with related ad hoc tasks
- 3+ years of experience in Federal Government grants management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Providing technical assistant to grant awardees
- Previous experience with CDC programs, policies, procedures, and communication activities preferred
- Ability to think critically about current processes and suggest improvements
- Ability to work on a team
- Experience working with grants or cooperative agreements
- Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions
- Microsoft Power BI
- Bachelor or master’s in public health, Communications, Public Policy or related field
- $50,000-$70,000
- Salary commensurate with experience.
