Project Description:
The Food and Drug Administration Office of Women’s Health (OWH) is seeking professional services to support OWH science related activities, increase OWH’s visual identity, develop informational and educational marketing campaigns, and develop and implement a digital strategy for disseminating OWH social media and digital messages, video content, visual graphics support, and content for print publications for diverse audiences of women, health care providers, and women’s health stakeholders. This includes the development of new informational and educational marketing campaigns or initiatives to promote women’s health topics within the purview of the products regulated by the FDA that impact women’s health, or refinement of existing campaigns or initiatives.
Job Summary:
DRT is looking for a Part-Time Graphics Designer to support the development and distribution of visually engaging digital content and tools across multiple platforms to support OWH’s digital outreach initiatives. Design content for OWH social media accounts, ensuring consistent branding and compelling design. Serve as creative support for visual storytelling, including graphic design, and layout/design for print and digital publications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop visual content for OWH social media accounts including X(Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
- Design posters, factsheets, and campaign visuals, as well as update existing materials through Adobe Creative Cloud applications (specifically, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).
- Support the development of visual assets and graphics for OWH blogs and Ad Campaigns.
- Participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of communication and marketing plans and strategies.
- Participate in meetings, strategic communications reporting, and other feedback mechanisms as appropriate.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Recommend best practices to optimize content reach and engagement, including effective use of visual design, platform-specific features, and relevant hashtags.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- 3-5 years of professional graphic design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating work across digital and print formats.
- Experience creating animated GIFs or short videos using After Effects.
- Familiarity with designing content for advocacy, nonprofit, or women’s health–focused organizations.
- Familiarity with best practices for accessibility following Section 508-compliance, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, digital first, and plain language.
- Spanish fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or a similar professional degree related to graphic design or in a related discipline.
- $27-37/hr.
- Rate is commensurate with experience.
