Project Description:
DRT provides public health, technology, data, communications, and visualization support to enhance the government’s ability to use public health data to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems. This includes designing and developing application and database solutions. In addition, this team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques to enhance safety research and recommendation efforts across the country.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Mobile Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms, with a strong focus on utilizing mobile sensors and navigating the release and approval processes for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality mobile applications that deliver exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.
  • Integrate and utilize mobile device sensors (e.g., GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensors) to enhance app functionality.
  • Manage the entire application lifecycle, including concept, design, testing, deployment, and post-release support.
  • Navigate the release and approval processes for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, ensuring compliance with their guidelines.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues to optimize app performance and resolve bugs.
  • Collaborate with designers to create intuitive user interfaces that align with platform-specific design guidelines.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices.
  • Conduct unit tests and UI tests to ensure application quality.
  • Work closely with back-end developers to integrate APIs and other services into mobile applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technological trends in mobile development, including updates to iOS and Android operating systems.
  • Provide recommendations for new features or improvements based on user feedback and market trends.

Required Experience:
  • Proven experience in mobile application development for both iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java).
  • Demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store submission processes, including compliance with their guidelines.
  • Proficiency in working with mobile device sensors (e.g., GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope) and integrating them into applications.
  • Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX design principles and frameworks specific to iOS and Android platforms
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON data formats, and third-party libraries (e.g., Retrofit, Alamofire).
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns such as MVC, MVP, or MVVM.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual tasks effectively.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with the Centers for Disease Control environment and standards: SDLC, technical architecture, release processes.
  • Experience with occupational safety applications (NIOSH).
  • Experience with hybrid app development frameworks like React Native or Flutter is a plus.
  • Familiarity with push notifications and in-app purchase integrations.
  • Understanding of performance optimization techniques for mobile apps (e.g., battery usage, memory management).
Salary Range:
  • $70,000-$92,000
  • Salary commensurate with experience

Education & Training:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
