Project Description:
We are looking for a hands-on Solution Architect / Systems Analyst to play a lead technical role in a system modernization initiative.
This is not a passive advisory role — you will be the primary technical driver, responsible for understanding the current environment, defining future-state architecture options, and producing the core analysis that informs executive decisions.
You will work directly with the Project Manager and stakeholders to translate business needs into clear, actionable technical direction and architecture recommendations.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for developing the technical backbone of the engagement by conducting a comprehensive end-to-end architectural analysis. Your work begins with a thorough Current State Assessment, where you will map out existing system architectures, data flows, and interfaces while identifying underlying technical debt and constraints. You will then bridge the gap between present and future needs through a detailed Requirements and Capability Analysis, ensuring all technical specifications are traceable and align with desired performance outcomes.
As you move toward solutioning, you will design Future-State Architecture Options, evaluating various modernization, hybrid, or off-the-shelf approaches through the lens of cost, scalability, and risk. After performing a structured Technical Evaluation to recommend the most viable path forward, you will define the Implementation Approach, outlining the transition strategy and a high-level roadmap for sequencing the deployment. Finally, you will translate these complex technical insights into Executive-Ready Artifacts, producing the diagrams and reports necessary to support informed decision-making at the highest levels.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the effort to understand and document how the current system works.
- Engage stakeholders to uncover real-world challenges, not just stated requirements.
- Translate business needs into practical, implementable technical solutions.
- Drive development of architecture options and technical recommendations.
- Ensure all outputs are clear, defensible, and aligned to enterprise standards.
- Act as the technical counterpart to the Project Manager, owning all architecture and system analysis work.
- 8+ years of experience in: Solution architecture, systems analysis, or systems engineering.
- Prior experience supporting HHS environments.
- Active or recent Public Trust clearance (HHS preferred).
- Strong understanding of enterprise system architecture (application, data, integration).
- Experience analyzing complex systems with multiple integrations.
- Proven ability to create architecture diagrams and technical deliverables from scratch.
- Strong communication skills — able to explain complex systems clearly.
- Experience with system modernization or transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with federal IT environments and governance frameworks.
- Experience with cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Exposure to case management or workflow-driven systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance. Due to contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to be eligible.
- Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
