Project Description:
DRT provides GIS solutions to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness/response. Our support includes the design, development, and enhancements of internal and external applications, websites, and database solutions with geospatial components. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world.
Job Summary:
The GIS Analyst works directly with public health GIS analysts, coordinators, epidemiologists, and technologists to address environmental health and emergency preparedness and response issues; and embraces, leverages, and promotes geospatial technology.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies, recommends, and performs geospatial analyses in support of public health projects
- Performs GIS technical and analytic information services when analyzing, summarizing, and coding the scientific data contained within information systems and databases related to public health
- Directs, administers, or coordinates GIS technical information services related to information systems and GIS analysis projects
- Increases the efficiency of existing workflows and developing and/or enhancing tools for geospatial data collection and analysis related to public health
- Presents and demonstrates technical concepts and applications to non-GIS project partners
- Designs and publishes data layers, maps, operations dashboards and StoryMaps using Esri software
- Prepares and loads geospatial data files (.shp, etc) as hosted data layers on Esri software
- Publishes geospatial data layers that are directly connected to SQL Server / SDE
- Automates the deployment of GIS data on ArcGIS Server using REST API and Python
- Prepares, manages, and manipulates MS SQL Server data and databases using T-SQL
- Automates analysis and reporting tasks using scripting languages such as Python/JavaScript to support field operations
- Performs analysis of GIS public health and environmental data including proximity analysis, surface analysis, network analysis and more
- Employs both vector and raster data to analyze public health and environmental data
- Uses mobile tools such as Survey123 to gather, integrate and analyze public health data
- Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
- At least seven years’ experience with geospatial science and GIS technology, ArcGIS suite of software, GIS data and GIS data sources
- Experience with demographic analysis, network analysis, time-series analysis, cartography, data management and other GIS-related fields; SQL, Python, and R
- Familiarity with software products such as ArcGIS, Google (Maps, Google Earth), GPS technology, and Microsoft Office 365
- Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts, such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.
- Working knowledge of Esri JavaScript API/REST API using Python
- Working knowledge of data visualization principles, such as data value classification and conveying/simplifying analyses for non-technical audiences
- Excellent data management skills
- Experience supporting the CDC or other federal public health agencies
- Experience as contributing author to public health publications
- Experience with Palantir Foundry
- Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, geography, public health, or related field
- $70,000-$90,000
- Salary commensurate with experience.
